Çöven ya da çöven otu, çöğen (Gypsophila), karanfilgiller (Caryophyllaceae) familyasından ekonomik öneme sahip 100 türden oluşan, bir yıllık ya da çok yıllık 5–120 cm boyunda otsu bitki cinsi. Türkiye'de bulunan 50 çöven türü bilinmektedir. Tahin helvası yapımında da kullanılan çöven Türkiye'nin ihraç ürünlerinden biridir. Aynı familyadan onun gibi köpürtücü özelliğe sahip olan sabunotu ile karıştırmamak gerekir
