Billy Hart (d. 29 Kasım 1940), Amerikalı caz davul sanatçısı ve eğitmen.
Hayatı ve kariyeri
Hart, Washington, DC'de doğdu. Müzik hayatının ilk zamanlarında Otis Redding, Buck Hill ve Shirley Horn ile sahne aldı. 1961'de Montgomery Brothers grubu ile çaldı. 1968'de Hart, New York'a taşındı ve burada McCoy Tyner, Wayne Shorter ve Joe Zawinul ile kayıtlar aldı ayrıca Eddie Harris, Pharoah Sanders ve Marian McPartland ile birlikte çaldı.[1]
Hart, 1969 ve 1973 yılları arasında Herbie Hancock grubu ile çalmaya devam etti. Birçok sanatçı ile çalışmış olan Hart, 1972'de Miles Davis 'in "On the Corner" adlı albümünde yer aldı.[1]
1990'lı yıllardan itibaren, Oberlin Müzik Konservatuvarı,[2] New England Müzik Konservatuvarı[3] ve Western Michigan Üniversitesi'nde eğitmen olarak hayatına devam etmiştir.[4] Ek olarak New York Üniversitesi aracılığıyla özel dersler vermektedir. Sanatçı genellikle Stokes Forest Müzik Kampı'na ve Belçika'daki Dworp Yaz Caz Kliniğine katkıda bulunur.[5]
Ben Street, Mark Turner ve Ethan Iverson ile bir gruba liderlik etti ayrıca Jean-Michel Pilc liderliğindeki bir üçlüde yer aldı. Cookers olarak bilinen bir grupla sahne aldı. Grup üyeleri, arasında David Weiss, Eddie Henderson, Craig Handy, George Cables ve Cecil McBee gibi isimler vardır ve bu isimlerle birlikte turnelere çıkmıştır.[6]
